November Free Papertoy

I'm featured in the latest issue of Marko Zubak's awesome online papertoy magazine II LOVE!
You'll find an interview with me and "November" a new toy to make as well as more great work from other top papertoy artist. You can download II LOVE here.
I was really thinking of a way I could create a toy that was really different and unique for everyone who built it, no two the same. I also love this time of year when the leaves start falling and there is a chill in the air so those are the ideas that led to me making November. Hope you like him and enjoy hunting for the perfect leaf!

I Know You Art, But What Am I? @ Gallery 1988

I'm very excited to have a piece in "I Know You Art, But What Am I?" Pee-Wee Herman tribute art show at Gallery 1988 in Venice, CA! Opening reception is Friday July 29th. I'm a big fan of Pee-Wee so I'm super stoked this is my first piece for a Gallery 1988 show! Below are some pics of my piece titled "Andy?!" in and out of the box/frame, based on a scene from the movie Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, one of my all time faves. I really enjoy making these large scale pieces (this one is about 2 feet tall) for art shows and got plans to do more! They are made of chipboard, cardstock and spray-paint and then put in a wood box/frame.

Free Paper Toy of the Month: Paper Chuck (non-SDCC exclusive)

So we were looking at all the cool San Diego Comic Con exclusive toys and being trapped in the middle of Kansas felt a little left out. So me and Brian Fyffe decided to make a papertoy available to all you poor folks, like us, who didn't get to SDCC this year it's the SDCC Non-Exclusive Paper Chuck! It's my paper-take on Brian's awesome Zombie Chuck character. Download and enjoy and be sure to check out Zombie Chuck books and toys!
Download Paper Chuck here.
I got a little off track there on the paper toy a month thing but I 'm back on track now, see you next month!

Banjo Gundam

Here is a paper automata I created to show at the Makers Faire. Turn the Crank and he plays banjo while taping his foot! See the video below for him in action. I'm thinking he would be a fun pre-cut kit. Maybe I should start a Kick Starter to fund production. He needs to be printed front to back which makes it not very feasible as a download plus lots of complex parts to cut.

Pop-up Shadow book

Pop-up Shadow book, originally uploaded by Custom Paper Toys.

Here is an idea I had that I tried to get someone to publish but no one seems interested it's a "Bedtime" pop-up book that has lights that allows you to read in the dark and project shadow puppets on the wall as you read. I thought it was a nifty idea.

Dallas Comic Con and free papertoy update

Busy, busy, busy around here the next couple of months! I'll be at the Dallas Comic Con this weekend sharing a table with my pal and Zombie Chuck creator Brian Fyffe. If your going to the con stop by and say hi. Above is a papertoy I'm working on that was inspired by Brian's Zombie Chuck character. I'll have some large scale prints at the con and should have the papertoy up for free download in the next couple days.
