New work for Wonderground at Downtown Disney

I have some new works available at Wonderground Gallery at Downtown Disney.
Paper sculptures made of painted watercolor paper. I created Goofy and Elliott one facet at a time from the top down from watercolor paintings with only a 2-D sketch for a guide. My hope is that this improvisational technique would help capture the spirit of these characters, bringing them to life in a flowing organic way that defies the sharp corners and geometric forms from which they're built. Available at the Wonderground Gallery in Downtown Disney.

Last Friday I had the pleasure of giving a little talk/workshop at University of Kansas as part of KU Design Week. I always enjoy talking with students about my work and after that we had a little hands on craft time were we all built little paper Jayhawks I designed. Here are some pics from the event thanks to Sydney and KU for the invite.

Final hours of Kooky Creeps Kickstarter

Down to the last 4 hours on my little improbable kickstarter project and looks like we are going to come up well short. I can't say I'm not a little disappointed but over all this has been a overwhelmingly positive experience. I've learned a lot,I really enjoyed making this project and the video and it certainly has raised awareness of my work as a whole. My favorite part however was sitting working in my studio and my email would ding I'd turn around and see a "new backer alert" each one was like a little virtual high five for me and I would go back to work encouraged and inspired. Your support has meant the world to me and I'm all fired up and ready to bring more weird and wonderful paper art your way this coming year. Thank you!

GE Evolution series paper locomotive

I was recently commissioned to make a paper version of the GE Evolution series locomotive for the GE tumblr page. It was a cool project to work on and making a model of an existing object is always a fun challenge to me. I love the animated gifs they made for the post. You can download the template and make your own and find out more about the GE Evolution series locomotive here:

Thanks to GE and the good folks over at Group SJR for the awesome commission.

Jack O' Goblin paper craft mask

Happy Halloween everybody! This year I made my own paper craft mask of my character Jack O' Goblin. It was inspired by those great vintage Halloween masks and those classic Beistle paper Halloween decorations. My intention was to make a mask that I could put up here on the site for free download but the parts of the mask are way to big to fit onto an 8.5" X 11" printer!  So I got to thinking it would be cool to produce this a s a precut set or maybe even a couple different masks in a set. Maybe I might come up with a Kickstarter campaign to get it off the ground. Designing and producing a set of Halloween masks would be a super fun project. Happy haunting!
