Plush, Vinyl , Clay

The Plush, Vinyl, Clay art toy show is opening this weekend at the Kismet Gallery and despite the fact that he is neither Plush or Vinyl or Clay, my Mechanical Man paper toy will be in the show. I'm pretty excited. This is the first time my paper toy work has been anywhere close to an art gallery and there are so many great artist in this show. So if you happen to be anywhere close to Troy, New York stop in and say hi to Mechanical Man or even take one home.
Update: Here is a pic of my guys on the wall at Kismet.

Mechanical Man and CPT Shop coming soon!

Introducing Mechanical Man. It's a limited edition 2 color letterpress print on silver metallic paper. I'm doing a limited edition of 30 that will be signed, numbered, hand cut and assembled by me. The first few will be going out to the Kismet Gallery's Plush, Vinyl , Clay show. Flat prints of Mechanical Man will be available as well. I'm working on getting a Custom Paper Toy shop up and will launch it this weekend just in time for all you Holiday Shoppers.(more on that soon) Here are a couple of sweet pics of the Letterpress in action printing Mechanical Man.

Mechanical Man was printed by the fine folks at Skylab Letterpress here in Kansas City. They did an awesome job. These are really cool prints.
Don't worry I will still be posting free paper toys once a month. This whole limited edition shop project is so I can take my paper toys to the next level with paper types and printing processes that can't be done digitally . My work is so "digital" It's nice to actually hold something real and tactile in my hands. The shop will also feature hand drawn one of a kind paper toys as well as limited edition hand assembled paper toys. Buttons? T-shirts? Who knows what else. What would you like to see in the shop?
I was going to wait to post this stuff until the online shop was up, but I got to excited to share this project with you all!
Thanks for your support as I take the next big leap!
The Custom Paper Toys Shop opening soon!!!

I've been having a ton of problems with mediafire dropping my files. I reuploaded several files last night just to find them gone this morning. I will be moving all the files to a new service tonight 11/15/07. Files may not be available today or tonight. Sorry about the inconvience. Hopefully that will be the end of all these broken files. Gee wiz...
I have moved all the PDFs over to a new free file hosting service. This is just temporary until I get a permanent space to store these files. All the links should work now. If you have any problems with the files just let me know. Thanks for your patience.

A few paper toy commissions.

Every once in a while someone will pay me perfectly good money to make a paper toy just for them. This Train I made for C3. It's the first thing I've designed that doesn't need glue or scissors. It uses tabs and slots and is die cut. It's a give a way for kid's meals.

This little guy I did for the fine folks at Replaced by Robots animation studios. This is there logo. His head turns around on his body. I'll share some more commissions soon. In the mean time I have a very exciting new project that's coming up! I'll be posting that in the next week or two.

Super Secret Paper Toy #2: Jumping Frog

This is a fun jumping frog paper toy project I made for Craft magazine. To get your hands on this one you'll have to go to your local book store and pick up the newest issue of Craft #5.
I'm super excited to have a project in such an awesome magazine.
The frog jumps via a paper clip strapped to his butt. Here he is in action.

It's a great mag so go get a copy today! Also I'm running a bit behind on the paper toy of the month for November but will have it up this weekend. It just needs a little more tweaking. Thanks for your patience.
